The difference that in-home care can make to the life of a Senior is unquantifiable. This is especially true when that in-home care is compassionate, attentive, detailed and dedicated to respect, as the health care professionals are at Integracare. Every single member of our Integracare Family is committed to providing the highest quality private home health care services to residents in the GTA and Mississauga, working closely with Clients and their families to develop the best possible person-centered care plans.
To honour our hardworking team, and show appreciation for all the many services they provide, we thought we would take this blog to discuss some of those services. At Integracare, we are incredibly proud of our Personal Support Workers and Registered Practical Nurses – they love what they do, and they have deep, compassionate respect for their Clients.
Let’s take a closer look at what the “Integracare Difference” is. We’ll introduce you to the type of people we have on our team, offer you an overview of some of the services they offer, and talk a bit about our mission, our philosophy and practices. If you or your loved one is interested in any of the below services, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.
Every Caregiver in the Integracare Family is carefully selected, vetted and educated in a rigorous process in accordance with extremely high standards. Integracare’s coordination office works diligently to match Caregivers to specific Clients’ needs, so that we ensure the best possible match and we are committed to provide continuity of care. This, of course, means that Clients and Caregivers are matched according to medical need – for example, a client suffering Dementia will be matched with a Caregiver specializing in Dementia and Alzheimer’s – but it also means that matches can focus on things like fostering independence or providing companionship.
All of our Caregivers are screened thoroughly, using references and background checks, and are trained and supervised by a dedicated team of Nursing Coordinators. Caregivers receive regular on-site visitations from Nursing Coordinators to ensure that they are matched perfectly with their Client.
Since we believe that continuing education and skill expansion are some of the hallmarks of great caregiving, we also offer free courses through our Professional Development Program to all our Caregivers. For instance, they can take courses on Dementia care (taught by the Alzheimer’s Society of Toronto) and Palliative care, or more specific courses like First Aid and CPR.
With this system of transparency, accountability and education, we ensure that Integracare home health services are of the highest quality. It’s why we can say with certainty that we have the most dedicated, compassionate and educated professional Caregivers working at Integracare!
Below is a list of some of the services we offer Clients. If you feel like you, a family member or loved one might benefit from one of the following home health care services, then please contact us. We know it is a difficult conversation to have, and we want to assure you that your decision will be met with the utmost respect, care and privacy.
Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care
Our Dementia care educated Caregiver can assist with habitual changes, evolving along with the progression of the disease. During the early stages of Alzheimer’s and other forms of Dementia, it is possible for someone to continue living independently, though they might benefit from help with medication management and other tasks. It is also a good idea during early stages to work on developing coping strategies, which may include visiting a mental health practitioner, staying active, or even writing in a journal.
In later stages of Alzheimer’s and other forms of Dementia, a person’s mood might change, they might grapple with depression or anxiety, and their memory, coordination and mobility might suffer. It is in this stage that families often reach out for in-home care. An ongoing presence in the house can help provide stability and comfort, as well as practical help with things like mobility and housekeeping.
If you or a loved one is recovering from injury or surgery, the assistance of an in-home physiotherapist can help expedite the rehabilitation process without having to run to out-of-home appointments. From the comfort of your own home, a physiotherapist can help with guided exercises, stretching, posture improvement, as well as offering tips on how to be safe around the house.
Integracare might also match you with a Wound Care Nurse, or a Registered Massage Therapist, depending on your needs. It can be stressful, after a surgery, accident or injury, to have to travel to countless rehabilitative appointments. Contact Integracare about in-home recovery care, and get better in familiar surroundings.
The psychological and physical symptoms of a life-threatening illness can reduce the sufferer’s quality of life. Private home healthcare can help reduce those symptoms, mitigate that suffering, and provide a compassionate presence, all in the comfort of your loved one’s home.
Because of the multifaceted nature of serious illnesses, palliative care can include an array of healthcare services: Massage Therapy, Wound Care, Dementia Care and Physiotherapy. Depending on the condition, one or more of the following services might be recommended, and each service will be tailored to address the Client’s current state of health and presenting symptoms.
Aging well is about having access to necessary nursing care, to be sure. But it is also about improving quality of life through other services, like Massage Therapy. Inactivity and prolonged positioning can cause problems for Seniors, such as poor circulation or tender pressure sores. Massage Therapy aids in improving circulation and relieving pain, and can be an effective and comforting facet of in-home care. All of Integracare’s Registered Massage Therapist’s specialize in Senior care, some specializing further in areas like palliative care and recovery care.
Personal Support Service Fostering Independence & Improving Accessibility
Part of offering high quality in-home healthcare involves advocating for dignity, community and Client independence. Many professionals and Seniors forums nowadays are discussing the value of “aging in place” – that is, being able to age amid your own home and community, safe in the knowledge that you have the necessary social and health support you require.
Aging in place is as important to us as it is to you and/or your loved one. Integracare Caregivers foster independence by aiding in house work, habitual and lifestyle changes, and healthcare. They also help improve accessibility in you or your loved one’s home. And, at Integracare, we also offer medical and assistive supplies, from wheelchairs and electric hospital beds, to diabetic supplies or wound care supplies.
Our Client-First Commitment
Our mission at Integracare is to offer the highest quality person-centred home healthcare. That means that our Caregivers make themselves available 24-hours, 7days per week wherever you or your loved one calls home. That means that our Caregivers offer specialized, professional, compassionate service to Clients, and that they work collaboratively with the Client, their family and associated health care professionals to ensure we are providing the best possible service.
We firmly believe in health care advocacy as well. Those suffering an illness, or who might otherwise be unable to speak up for themselves, require the ongoing and passionate advocacy of healthcare providers like Integracare. We do this by fostering independence, providing comfort and dignity, and filling healthcare gaps in the public system.
Hopefully, this post has helped spotlight the Integracare difference, and the many wonderful services that we offer. Integracare offers many services, all of which can’t really fit into a single blog post, so we encourage you, if you are interested, to check out our website or give us a call at our Toronto, Mississauga or Toll-Free numbers.
