It used to be common practice and even an expectation that Seniors would eventually leave their homes and move into assisted living or nursing home facilities. However, with the myriad of resources and home health care services available today, many Seniors are choosing to stay in their homes, where they feel most comfortable and independent.

Integracare is an award-winning private home health care service provider that has been dedicated to delivering exceptional and compassionate care for Seniors in Toronto and Mississauga for over 25 years.

The major difference between Integracare and other health care providers is simple: our passionate team of Caregivers. Integracare Caregivers are highly screened, educated, and supervised by a team of Registered Nursing Coordinators.

We pride ourselves in regularly educating our team of Caregivers with professional development and training sessions that strengthen their skills and increase their confidence as home health care providers.

Integracare provides year-round education for our Caregivers to ensure that they are up to date on health care advancements and have the necessary resources to deliver the highest quality home health care. We truly believe that happy and engaged Caregivers provide the best care for our Clients.

We honour, value, and respect all of our Clients at Integracare. We feel the same way about our Caregivers. With this in mind, we make sure to partner Clients and Caregivers based on the Client’s needs and interests.

Integracare offers many services. Our Caregivers are medical professionals and offer everything from friendly companionship and personal support services to nursing care, physiotherapy and massage therapy.

If there is a loved one in your life that is in need of in-home support, consider how our team of Caregivers can help increase their quality of life today.

What Services can a Caregiver Provide Your Loved One?

Integracare offers services that are intended to make your loved one feel comfortable, respected, and loved, within the comfort of their own home. Our Caregivers provide:

  • Personal Support Services
  • Registered Practicing Nursing Care
  • Dementia Care
  • Live-In and Palliative Care
  • Massage Therapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • And much more

Personal Support Workers (PSWs) spend a great amount of time with our Clients. They help with feeding, cooking, cleaning, bathing, and more. Integracare PSWs and RPNs are intensely screened for police clearances, annual medicals, bonding, and photo-identification.

Empathy and compassion are qualities that Integracare looks for when hiring PSWs and other Caregivers. Relationships mean so much to us; Clients need to feel secure and that they can trust their Caregivers.

Caregivers provide friendship and companionship for your loved one. In addition to our PSWs and Nurses, our Therapists can also deliver important services such as massage therapy and physiotherapy.

In-home Physiotherapy

The Benefits of an In-home Caregiver

After an injury, accident, or surgery, home is often the best place for Seniors to recuperate. The benefits of physiotherapy for Seniors are numerous, especially if there has been a recent fall, accident, or surgery. Bringing that care home means you and your loved one won’t have to struggle with transportation and getting to appointments.

Our registered physiotherapists offer safe, gentle exercises that can be practiced to build strength and flexibility in the comfort and safety of your or your loved one’s home.

Seniors with chronic pain from carpal tunnel syndrome or illnesses such as arthritis benefit greatly from physiotherapy. Our physiotherapists introduce gentle movements into a patient’s healthcare plan, promoting blood flow, flexibility, core strength, and mobility.

Another advantage to physiotherapy is that it is a non-invasive and non-pharmaceutical treatment. Building strength and flexibility helps to treat a range of issues, and it can also prevent further injuries and mitigate the need for invasive treatments such as additional surgery.

As people age, surgical options become increasingly risky. Staying away from the surgical table should be a top priority for any Senior.

Pain medication (even over-the-counter options) may interfere with other medications taken for chronic illnesses. Avoiding additional medications is an important consideration for any healthcare plan.

Pain is reduced naturally with regular physiotherapy, and our physiotherapists customize treatment plans based on needs and fitness goals.

In-Home Massage Therapy

Not only does aging at home include Personal Support and physiotherapy support for illnesses, chronic conditions and pain, it often includes additional specialized services such as massage therapy.

Much like physiotherapy, massage therapy is an excellent tool to manage pain, and the benefits for Seniors are extraordinary.

Integracare’s professional Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) work individually with Seniors to help increase their quality of life and overall health.

Regular massage therapy:

  • Increases blood flow to limbs and improves circulation — as we age, circulation slows down. Massage therapy helps to circulate blood to limbs and joints
  • Softens hard muscles and tissues — reducing muscle tension and pain
  • Stimulates the nervous system — research has continually shown that therapeutic massage helps produce hormones that have enormous benefits on the body, including serotonin and dopamine
  • Eases stroke recovery — massage therapy can target affected areas, concentrating on anything paralyzed
  • Improves sleep — the relaxing qualities that massage therapy brings often enhances consistent sleep habits.

One very important benefit of regular massage therapy is that it produces positive feelings of caring and comfort. Ageing can be a difficult and stressful process. Not only can massage therapy aid with physical pain management, but it can also alleviate feelings of anxiety and depression.

Sometimes all it takes to feel connected is the gentle touch from a compassionate and kind-hearted RMT. Along with all of our Caregivers, our RMTs receive in-home health care education to enhance their specialized skills and professional development.

Integracare’s RMTs are trained to use gentle strokes in their techniques and to treat clients with the utmost respect.

Integracare Registered Massage Therapists are also taught the nonverbal clues to watch out for in people living with Dementia. Seniors diagnosed with Dementia benefit greatly from massage therapy, and regular visits from an RMT are normally welcomed and become part of their wellness routine.

Caregivers are Experts in Dementia Care

It is never easy when someone you love has been diagnosed with Dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Dementia isn’t a specific disease; it’s an overall term to describe a group of symptoms associated with a decline in memory and other comprehension skills severe enough to drastically reduce a person’s ability to perform daily activities.

When a diagnosis is given, the disease will, unfortunately, only progress. It’s best to have a discussion about the care that takes future needs into consideration. It’s important to plan for all possibilities.

Developing a health care plan well in advance will help your family cope in a difficult emotional time.

Integracare offers Caregivers that specialize in Dementia Care and who are highly educated and qualified in the multi-facet approach to Dementia Care. They are supervised on a 24/ 7 basis by Registered Nursing and Dementia Care Specialists. Our objective is to make quality care available to people living with Dementia in the comfort of their own homes, where they feel the most comfortable and safe.

Our Caregivers are available at any hour of the day and are educated to deliver compassionate care and engage with Clients regardless of the severity of the disease. We understand the toll Dementia takes on families and loved ones — many of us have been in your shoes before.

We treat every client with respect, dignity, and kindness. Our Caregivers are there to give you a little bit of breathing space. It’s our job to ensure that you’re not alone on this difficult journey. We are there to help you in any way possible, every step of the way.

If there is an aging loved one in your life living with Dementia, then give them the freedom and independence to live at home. Integracare’s professional Caregivers provide a helping hand, warm companionship, as well as critical pain-relieving services such as physiotherapy and massage therapy.
