As family members and friends who live alone start to age, you worry about their safety and wellbeing. How do you know if they’re eating properly or safe from harm if you’re not there to care for them? What would happen if an accident or fall occurred?
If your loved one is developing health or mobility issues, and they don’t want to leave the comfort of their own home, you might be wondering what healthcare options are available.
Consider the benefits of Senior home healthcare. Many Seniors would rather age in place than move into a long-term facility or an assisted living facility. Ageing at home, with the assistance of a qualified Caregiver, is empowering because it allows people to continue living independently and with dignity.
Integracare is a home healthcare provider offering compassionate support for Seniors all across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Integracare has been offering private home Nursing and Caregiving services to Seniors for nearly 30 years. We’re committed to providing Clients with the highest quality home care services in Toronto and the surrounding area, wherever they call home.
If you can’t be with your loved one every day, we can. Our goal is to bring Clients and their families peace of mind through our professional and compassionate Caregivers and the services we provide.
Knowing that a professional and certified Caregiver is always with your loved one makes it easier to relax because you’ll know that someone is there to tend to his or her needs at any time. Our home healthcare services allow you and your family to breathe easier, and here’s why.
Qualified and Compassionate People
The heart and soul of Integracare is our incredible team of Caregivers and Nurses. We provide experienced, highly-trained, and supervised healthcare professionals as part of our home healthcare program. All of our Caregivers are thoroughly screened through background checks and references and always carry photo identification.
Our dedicated professional personal support workers and Caregivers are carefully matched with Clients based on your loved one’s custom needs. Our objective is for our Clients to develop trust with their Caregivers. We value individuals who, as at-home Caregivers, take time to create personalized and engaging relationships with Seniors.
With the right at-home Caregiver, Seniors can live comfortably and independently. Your loved one can continue his or her daily routine and be surrounded by the familiar scenes of home. With our support, Clients maintain a sense of freedom and dignity while ageing in place.
Some of the at-home services that we assist with include:
- Medication Reminders
- Meal Preparation
- Light Housework
- Incontinence Care
- Transferring, and more
We also provide engaging conversation and companionship with our Clients. Besides being outstanding healthcare providers, with outstanding qualifications and backgrounds, our Caregivers offer compassion and warmth. They provide professionalism with every step of the way, while also lending an empathetic ear for our Clients and their families.
Before any at-home visits begin, we’ll ask you and your family member or friend what they expect from our services. We’ll discuss any medical or mental health conditions that your loved one has. We’ll also ask questions such as:
- What do you hope to gain from at-home care?
- What sort of background and training do you expect from a Caregiver and Nursing team?
- Do you have any health issues, and how would you like us to address them?
- Is there anything we should know about— such as bringing up specific topics in conversation — to avoid triggering emotional trauma?
- How can we increase your quality of life without overstepping boundaries?
We view our services as a two-way street. We encourage Clients and family members to ask us any questions they might have about our services in return. We want you to know that you can trust us. Transparency is one of our top priorities.
Training and Expertise
For us to deliver dependable and transparent healthcare, we ensure that our Caregivers receive regular training and industry-focused educational sessions. Each month, our Caregivers and Registered Practicing Nurses (RPNs) engage in intensive continuing education and training sessions. These relate to essential Senior healthcare issues such as Dementia Care, at-home healthcare treatment methods, and the latest in top-quality home care services.
We’re continually evolving and learning, and we believe that this is one of the benefits of choosing home health care — customized, private healthcare plans based on deep-rooted knowledge and dedication to hard work.
Without consistent training and education, we wouldn’t have the skills or expertise to provide unique, personalized healthcare options for our Clients. Are you worried that your arthritic father isn’t getting enough exercise? Or perhaps you’re concerned about a friend who requires at-home Palliative Care. Her wellbeing is of the utmost importance to you.
You can count on us to provide your loved one with the specialized services he or she needs — you don’t have to worry about a thing. Let’s explore some of those customized at-home services further.
Has your loved one recently had an accident, fall, or is he or she recovering from surgery? Sometimes, the best and most comfortable place to recover is at home, which is why Integracare brings recovery straight to your family member’s doorstep. Physiotherapy plays a crucial role in the physical recovery process. Without it, individuals can suffer from long-lasting and permanent implications.
We’ve provided at-home Physiotherapy for over 25 years. Physiotherapy is an effective restorative treatment to maintain and enhance a person’s mobility, function, and overall wellbeing. It helps through injury prevention, physical rehabilitation, and fitness. The procedure itself is comprised of guided light exercises and stretches designed for individuals suffering from chronic pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, musculoskeletal conditions, stroke recovery, and those who have recently suffered from an accident or a serious injury.
The intention is to improve posture, comfort, and safety at home.
Our registered Physiotherapists work closely with your loved one’s RPNs and Caregivers to provide specialized assistance. After a few sessions, sometimes Clients can safely practice exercises without the aid of their Physiotherapist. Practicing the activities with the support of our PSWs gives Clients freedom and independence to work on recovery anytime they choose.
Massage therapy is a healing method that has been practiced for thousands of years. It’s an essential component to good physical and mental health. It helps to alleviate physical pain in the body while also attending to emotional stressors and anxiety. Many Seniors lead relatively sedentary lives — due to wheelchair restrictions or chronic pain — and Massage Therapy is an excellent way to improve blood circulation and restore flexibility. It can also lower cortisol, the stress hormone found in the body.
Our Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) are trained to work specifically with Seniors. They use gentle movements, focusing on your loved one’s unique needs, and are careful not to apply too much pressure or aggravate conditions such as arthritis.
Regular sessions with one of our RMTs can improve:
- Ease of Breathing
- Restful Sleep
- Migraine Headaches
- Coordination and balance
- And more
At-home Massage Therapy allows Clients to get rid of those aches and pains without even having to step outside of the house. It’s convenient and doesn’t require any hassle. You won’t have to navigate a hospital or a clinic, and there’s no need to arrange for a Wheel Trans service.
Depending on the circumstances of a Client, Massage Therapy can play a vital role in the live in care services that we provide. Many Seniors ageing at home require customized round-the-clock care, and we have Live-in Caregivers that offer precisely that — 24-hour compassionate support.
We’re also proud to offer at-home Dementia and Palliative Care of the highest quality to our community.
It’s not easy to face the challenges of Dementia alone. As Senior healthcare providers, we understand how complicated the disease can be for Clients and their families and friends. Dementia is complex. Untreated, it can cause great feelings of despair, anxiety, and hopelessness among those affected with the disease and their loved ones.
Integracare provides essential care that you can count on — you’ll always have our full support and guidance.
One of our main priorities is to help reduce those painful emotions with our specialized Dementia Care program. Four years ago, we partnered with the Alzheimer’s Society of Toronto to become the experts in at-home Dementia Care. We wanted to ensure that we were delivering up-to-date relevant education and training for our Caregivers. Since then, with the professional insight from the Alzheimer’s Society of Toronto, our Caregivers receive on-going education in all four facets of Dementia Care. These include:
- The Dementia Care Training Program
- The Behavioural Support Training Program
- Palliative Care for People Living with Dementia
- The Gentle Persuasive Approach Course
These four components provide fundamental tools and strategies to strengthen the relationship between our Caregivers and Clients. The program enables us to deliver outstanding support, so you’ll feel confident knowing that your loved one is receiving excellent care at all times.
We choose the best caregivers because we want the best for our Clients. We provide specialized Palliative Care and highly trained, compassionate Caregivers to individuals diagnosed with a life-limiting illness.
If a loved one has been diagnosed with a disease such as Cancer, Kidney Failure, or Heart Disease, they’ll require an intimate level of support that’s slightly different from our regular home healthcare plans. Typically, Clients diagnosed with a life-limiting illness will receive primary treatment, such as chemotherapy. Palliative Care is a system that works in conjunction with the primary treatment to increase the quality of life of individuals affected with a life-limiting disease.
Our Caregivers and Nurses work with Clients’ external doctors and healthcare team to ensure that they receive the very best treatment and care. Many primary medications and therapies used to treat life-limiting diseases can cause severe, and painful side-effects. For example, chemotherapy can cause fatigue, nausea and vomiting, and “Chemo brain” (affecting concentration and ability to focus).
At-home Palliative Care aims to decrease some of the pain caused by heavy treatments and from the illness itself. It acts as an additional layer of support. Palliative Care reduces unnecessary hospital visits and allows your loved one to enjoy the comfort of their own home during a challenging time. We provide medical and pain management, offering Palliative Massage Therapy and Physiotherapy, compassionate support from trained, empathetic Caregivers, Live-in Care, and patient advocacy.
Our at-home Palliative Care approach focuses on communication between Clients and their primary healthcare providers through introducing discussions about treatment and symptom management. We listen intently to our Clients’ needs and concerns and advocate for what’s best for them to other healthcare practitioners involved in your loved one’s healthcare plan.
In Palliative Care, our Caregivers are trained to address any situation with empathy, control, and excellent problem-solving skills. Their sincerity and warmth will help bring solace to you and your family, knowing that everyone is in trusted hands. Your loved one’s Caregivers and Nurses will quickly become more like family members than health workers.
Providing emotional, spiritual, and social support to our Clients is a crucial aspect of Palliative Care. Recognizing this type of care on a holistic level is essential. We always listen to Clients and their family members’ needs and concerns and ensure that everyone receives the support they need.
Watching friends and family members age isn’t always an easy process, and it’s even more difficult when you can’t be with them. Our goal is to make the process a little easier by committing to the highest quality in home care and support, offering round-the-clock services.
Integracare isn’t just about healthcare. Our mission is to provide joy: helping to bake the perfect cake for a granddaughter’s birthday; demonstrating how to use the new smart TV independently; offering sympathetic, trained support to a person affected with Dementia, all in the comfort of home.
Home healthcare is a tool to help your loved one as much as it helps you — it gives you peace of mind.
